Who we are

Journey to the End of the Night was created in 2006 by Ian Kizu-Blair, Sean Mahan, and Sam Lavigne as part of SFZero. After coming up with a game to inspire Fear, Lust, Pain, Speed, Alienation, Loneliness, Hate, and Desire, they opensourced it and made the game available to the public. Since then, Journey has been organized by hundreds of volunteers, hosted all over the world, and played by thousands of players.

The first Journey happened in San Francisco, and has been continued by a shifting core of volunteers each year. In 2017, the organizers formed a 501(c)3 nonprofit in order to continue supporting Journey to the End of the Night. Check out our annual reports for 2017 and 2018 here:
